How this is calculated
Your monthly kWh usage is multiplied by an average residential price per kWh for your country, giving a USD cost that's then converted to local currency using a live exchange rate. That's compared against the country's average monthly bill, based on typical household consumption.

- Is this my actual bill?
- No — this uses an average residential tariff for your country. Your actual bill depends on your specific utility provider, tariff plan, taxes, and time-of-use pricing.
- How does grid carbon intensity relate to electricity cost?
- The two are related but distinct — a country can have cheap but carbon-intensive electricity (heavily subsidised coal power, for example) or expensive but clean electricity (high renewable buildout costs passed to consumers).
